A
stdent at St. Peter’s Secondary School Rwera, Rweikiniro Sub-county, in
Ruhaama Constituency, Ntungamo District, collapsed on Monday afternoon
while sitting a biology paper and died on the way to a health centre.
Eighteen-year-old Ruth Turyatunga’s death is the third such,
incident since the start of this years Uganda Certificate of Education
(UCE) examinations.
By yesterday, the cause of death was still not clear, but the school said she became unwell during the exam.
Mr Aloysius Turyamureeba, the school head teacher, said Turyatunga fell sick on Saturday and was allowed to go to her sister’s home located near the school from where she came to do the exam.

“She fell sick on Saturday and we allowed her to go to her sister’s
place where she stayed over the weekend. She returned on Monday to do
biology practical paper,” Mr Turyamureeba said.
“She was in the second shift. But she wrote only her name and collapsed before she could do more,” he added.
