Jovia Kyalisiima the youngest sister of fallen Butaleja woman MP Cerina Nebanda has expressed interest in the replacing her interest in contesting for Butaleja woman MP seat.
Jovia Kyalisiima the 18 year old currently in her vacation is so far -only known for her confidence following her direct attack of President Yoweri Museveni over her sister’s death.Kyalisiima reportedly asked president Museveni why every one was pointing at government over the death of her 24 year old sister Cerina Nebanda.Sources close to the family say she is tougher than her sister though Ugandans will soon see her true colours in the coming Butaleja elections.
The elections have been scheduled for February 11th 2013, the EC spokesperson, Jotham Taremwa confirmed. “As per the Constitution, the Electoral Commission has up to 60 days to conduct a by-election,” he said. “We have an approved program and the by-election is scheduled for February 11, 2013.” The spokesperson said on Thursday
After the death of Cerina Nebanda Parliament wrote to the EC notifying it of the death of Nebanda and the political vacancy in Butaleja.After the EC announced the elections in the district to replace Nebanda.
According to the program, a consultative meeting with stakeholders will be held in Butaleja on January 4 while an update of the voters’ register will take place from January 5-9. Nominations of candidates for the seat will take place from January 21-22 and a campaign period of 18 days will kick-off between January 24 and February 9.
If Jovia Kyalisiima is elected as new Butaleja woman MP,she will break the record of 19-year-old Usuk MP Proscovia Alengot who is currently the youngest MP. Kyalisiima says that she is determined to take over from her sister and continue her work in Butaleja.
