What is the eBay Program?

Using eBay on HubPages

HubPages has a partnership with eBay in which Hubbers who are signed up for the HubPages Earnings Program can easily apply to earn from eBay Capsules on Hubs. If you would like to apply, all you need to do is go to My Account > Earnings > eBay settings.
Hubbers earn from their eBay Capsules on a per-click basis.

eBay Program Facts

  • EBay is the Internet's number one online auction site.
  • Ordinary people and businesses can list both second-hand and new items for sale.
  • EBay, through its reputation and branding, are able to attract millions of potential buyers every day.
  • EBay makes money from listing fees (from the seller) and also a percentage of the final winning bid paid by the buyer.
  • One way that eBay has promoted their business is through a sub-affiliate program offered by HubPages.

How to Best Use eBay on HubPages

  • Pick products for the eBay Capsule that are complementary to your Hub's topic.
  • Experiment with different keywords in the 'eBay Search' to bring up relevant results.
  • To narrow down the keyword search you can also use a minus (-) in front of words you want excluded. For instance, if you had a Hub on 'welding' and you wanted to have just welding helmets but not goggles, you'd have welding helmet -goggles.
  • You might have a Hub about bobsledding, with information about the history, competition and how dangerous (but fun) the sport is, and you just want to display ads for actual bobsleds. In this case you may want to use the word bobsled and avoid using the word bobsledding, as it might give you books and DVDs on the subject. You might also want to include -jamaica so you don't pick up second-hand copies of the movie Cool Runnings.
  • Check your eBay Capsules regularly to make sure that the items listed are still relevant, as eBay is an auction site and item inventory is in constant flux.
The important thing is to play around with the eBay Capsule until you get the best results that are appropriate for your subject matter.
