Singer Jose Chameleone could face murder charges

The Police is considering opening murder charges against embattled musician Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleone, his wife Daniella Atim and the Leon Island crew.
This follows the death of 27-year-old Robert Karamagi, who died in Mulago Hospital, following injuries he sustained at the musicians home in Seguku.

In an interview with Sunday Vision, the Kajjansi District Police Commander, Ibrahim Saiga, said the facts of the case had since changed, after they recorded fresh statements from neighbours and an eye witness, which contradicted with earlier statements recorded by the Mayanja family.

“We have recorded statements and are reviewing the facts so that we can determine what course of action to take,” Saiga said.

Saiga said that investigations were on course and that the file was being compiled and would be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The deceased’s father has also denied reports that his son doused himself, maintaining that Karaiga called him from his hospital bed in Mulago Hospital and told him that he had been tortured, tied, doused and burnt by the musician and his crew members.
On Thursday, Chameleone spent the better part of the day with the detectives, but was released on Police bond.
A highly placed source in the investigation, told Sunday Vision that Chameleon had been questioned on his role in the incident.
