Wanted: Court issues arrest warrant for Bad Black

The Court of Appeal has issued a warrant of arrest for city socialite Bad Black aka Shanita Namuyimbwa for jumping bail.

The Court of Appeal registrar, Erias Kisawuzi, on Tuesday issued the warrant after Bad Black failed to appear in court on two occasions without any explanation from people who stood surety for her.

Kisawuzi, said in addition to jumping bail, she irregularly secured bail by smuggling a surety by the name Nashiri Jjombwe who had not been approved by Justice Stella Arach Amoko by the time she granted Bad Black bail.

In November last year, Justice Amoko granted Bad Black bail on grounds that she was sick and needed treatment abroad.

Kisawuzi said the court was compelled to issue an arrest warrant because Bad Black’s whereabouts are now unknown and that none of her sureties has bothered to go to court to explain why she had not honoured her bail terms.

Bad Black, a party loving woman, was convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court in July last year and sentenced to four years imprisonment for embezzling sh11b from her former lover David Greenhalgh.

The Court of Appeal presided over by Justice Amoko granted Bad Black a cash bail of sh100m, which she paid and her sureties Masulita Jjombwe, Asuman Nkolo, Felix Kawuma Mutagombya and Halima Namakula were bonded at non-cash of sh10m each.

The court in addition ordered Bad Black to report to the Court of Appeal every two weeks from November 18, 2012, until her appeal is concluded but she has never reported to the registrar.
